The Mnemonic Project is a way of turning memory into music. I work with individuals and families to create original songs or audio pieces based on real people, places, and moments—whether that’s a lullaby for a newborn, a tribute for someone important, or a layered sound portrait built from voice notes, conversations, and field recordings.
About me
For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working with Vancouver's Instruments of Change on their Lullaby Project, where I create personalised lullabies for families. My work has always been rooted in my own experiences, writing about my family and where I come from. I believe music has a unique ability to preserve memories and connect us to our stories. Whether it's a lullaby, a song, or a sound portrait, I aim to create pieces that resonate deeply and reflect the people and moments that matter most, and I can’t wait to help you do the same!
Option 1: Lullaby Package
For the littlest ones, or the ones you’re welcoming home.
A gentle, custom lullaby created in collaboration with you - written for a child, a grandchild, or a new addition to your chosen family. Inspired by your stories, hopes, and nicknames, this is a musical keepsake to rock them to sleep now and remind them, years later, of how loved they are.
Includes:
· Story-gathering session (Zoom or phone)
· One original lullaby (lyrics + melody)
· Studio-quality recording (Guitar/Piano + Voice)
· Optional add-ons: handwritten lyrics, lyric booklet, or Gather & Mend* candle
Option 2: Kin Song Package
A personal song for someone who shaped you.
Whether it's for a parent, chosen family member, or someone whose presence has left a mark, Kin Song is a custom piece that puts their story into words and melody. Made in collaboration with you, this is a way to honour a life while they’re here—or hold onto it when they’re not.
Includes:
· A conversation or interview to gather stories and details
· Custom lyrics and melody, written with their voice and legacy in mind
· Studio-quality recording
· Optional add-ons: handwritten lyrics, voice note archive, or video pairing
Option 3: Echo Threads Package
An immersive sound portrait, made from real-life fragments.
Echo Threads is part documentary, part composition - a layered audio piece built from voice notes, field recordings, conversations, and original music. Each one is completely bespoke, designed to reflect a specific person, relationship, or moment in time. It’s not a traditional song - it’s something more woven, more lived-in.
Includes:
· Planning session to shape the concept and scope
· Curation of existing audio (or help gathering it)
· Original composition and sound weaving
· Final 3 - 7 minute stereo mix
· Optional add-ons: photo or video accompaniment, physical lyric or story booklet, scent pairing from Gather & Mend
